Registration is mandatory for facilities that manufacture, handle and warehouse foods, dietary supplements, drugs and medical devices. Registration of cosmetic facilities is voluntary. In many cases, registration can be easily accomplished on FDA’s website. Be sure you understand when you should register, what information you will need and when you must renew your registration.
In addition to facility registration, drug and device manufacturers must also “list” their products. Listing is voluntary for cosmetic products. The manufacturing process must also be registered for ingestible products that are high in moisture content.
